Edinburgh's Jellycat scene was shaken up in July 2025 when the brand carried out its "brand elevation strategy" and dropped roughly 100 UK independent shops. Edinburgh was hit hard, with well-loved local shops Toys Galore in Morningside and Pippin losing their stockist status.

The good news is that Edinburgh still has plenty of places to buy official Jellycat plushies. Here is a verified list with source links for every shop.

Paper Tiger (Four Edinburgh Locations)

Paper Tiger is Edinburgh's most established Jellycat stockist, having worked with the brand for over 25 years. They were explicitly confirmed as retaining their official stockist status after the 2025 reshuffle and received the new Jellycat window sticker. Their Jellycat collection page is extensive and regularly updated.

Paper Tiger has four shops across Edinburgh:

Stafford Street (West End)

The original Paper Tiger, founded on Stafford Street in 1981 and at the current 6A/8 premises since 2007 (55.9493, -3.2111). A favourite with locals for cards, gifts, and a huge Jellycat wall.

Address: 6A/8 Stafford Street, EH3 7AU

Lothian Road

At 53 Lothian Road (55.9479, -3.2059), open since 1990 in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle. Convenient if you are heading to or from the Filmhouse end of town.

Address: 53 Lothian Road, EH1 2DJ

Raeburn Place (Stockbridge)

At 106b Raeburn Place (55.9594, -3.2138), bringing the full Jellycat range to Edinburgh's villagey Stockbridge neighbourhood. Great to combine with a wander around the Sunday Stockbridge Market.

Address: 106b Raeburn Place, EH4 1HH

Morningside Road

The Morningside branch at 194-196 Morningside Road (55.9289, -3.2099), opened May 2023. A good option for residents of Edinburgh's south side now that Toys Galore on Morningside Road has lost its Jellycat supply.

Address: 194-196 Morningside Road, EH10 4PU

Portobello

Cove

Cove at 250 Portobello High Street (55.9519, -3.1104) is one of only two Edinburgh independents explicitly confirmed as retaining official Jellycat stockist status after the 2025 reshuffle, alongside Paper Tiger. They received the new official window sticker from Jellycat. The shop has been trading for over eleven years and is a few minutes' walk from Portobello Beach, making it a lovely combined trip.

Address: 250 Portobello High Street, EH15 2AT

Old Town

Eden

Eden at 37 Cockburn Street (55.9503, -3.1868) is a charming gift shop on the picturesque curved street near the Royal Mile. Recommended by Edinburgh with Kids as a current Jellycat stockist, the shop is packed with quirky gifts, ornaments, and home decor alongside the Jellycat selection. Cockburn Street is one of Edinburgh's most photographed streets, so you are in for a pleasant browse either way.

Address: 37 Cockburn Street, EH1 1BP

Squish Edinburgh

Squish is a dedicated children's shop at 82 Victoria Street (55.9486, -3.1943), part of the independent Swish Edinburgh family business. They specialise in sustainably sourced kids' clothing and toys from brands including Jellycat, Miffy, and Izipizi. Victoria Street is one of Edinburgh's most iconic shopping streets, and Squish is known for having one of the best Jellycat selections in the city with the newest seasonal arrivals.

Address: 82 Victoria Street, EH1 2HH

New Town

The Bay Tree Company

The Bay Tree Company at 54 Hanover Street (55.9533, -3.1975) is an independent woman-owned gift shop with a curated selection of Jellycat alongside cards and ethically sourced gifts. They also have a branch at 110 Bruntsfield Place (55.9372, -3.2074). Stock can be limited so it may be worth checking before visiting.

Address: 54 Hanover Street, EH2 2DX

John Lewis Edinburgh

For the widest guaranteed range, John Lewis in the St James Quarter at 60 Leith Street (55.9552, -3.1877) carries an impressive Jellycat section. As a national retailer they were unaffected by the 2025 stockist reshuffle. The St James Quarter itself is worth visiting for its rooftop terrace views over Calton Hill.

Address: 60 Leith Street, St James Quarter, EH1 3SP

Shops That Lost Jellycat in 2025

Two well-known Edinburgh shops were publicly identified as having been dropped:

  • Toys Galore (Morningside Road) received a termination letter as part of the brand elevation. The Scotsman covered the story.
  • Pippin was told it could no longer qualify as an official stockist. The owner discussed the situation with STV News.

Before You Visit

Paper Tiger and Cove are the two safest bets for guaranteed official Jellycat stock in Edinburgh post-reshuffle. For the Old Town, Squish on Victoria Street is your best option. Always worth checking a shop's website or social media before making a special trip.
